About Kevin

Mr. Kevin Heydman is an accomplished, caring musician who enjoys teaching students, primarily in kindergarten through fifth grade, all the way up to college level. He has been teaching for 17 years, and currently serves as the performing arts/band teacher at Mission Viejo Christian School, as well as teaching privately. He has a flexible schedule and is versatile in teaching both in-person and through online platforms such as Google Meet or Zoom.

Mr. Heydman has been teaching lessons since the age of 16, including guitar, drums, piano, and woodwinds. Some of his students have won major auditions and awards, winning distinctions in jazz ensembles and recognition from band directors.

As a professional musician, he has performed all over the world. One of his favorite places he played was at an international base in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo in Eastern Europe, where he performed as a bass player for all of the different countries’ troops. Some other favorite locations he’s played include New Orleans, New York, and the Hard Rock Café in Maui.

Mr. Heydman earned his Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from Azusa Pacific University in 2015, and his Bachelor’s in Commercial Music from California State University – Los Angeles in 2013.

He currently lives in Orange County, California, with his wife, Genea.

What’s the one thing people need to know about you as a musician?

“I care about my students; it’s not just a job. I like to teach privately because I really enjoy it.” - Kevin
